WHAT IS GEOPARK
A geopark is a natural conservation and sustainable development area in which geologically and geomorphologically significant locations serve as proof of the Earth's geological evolution, as well as other natural and cultural heritage that is protected and brought to tourism in an integrated manner in any geographical area.
Geoparks are the areas with well-defined boundaries and well-planned management; they are important sites for education, science, scenery, landscape and tourism. Geoparks are intended to protect these locations as a part of nature conservation efforts, as well as to promote sustainable socio-economic and cultural development for local residents with the help of tourism and related sub-sectors that are planned to be implemented in the region.
